well i am doing an MSc thesis on incorporating environmental issues such as design for environment into the project management structure of a research and development company.
Basically, how do you make the employees/ researchers of a small r&d company think about design for the environment?
the company does not do any manufacturing -simply designs prototypes for bigger companies, the weee directive will not affect them due to their size and their is no money for employee incentives schemes etc.

the general consensus within the company is that if the customer has not specified design for environment and it is more cost effective not to do it , then why bother?

Although it is my thesis, i tend to agree, after all it is good business sense to spend less money and if they are not legally obliged (and prob never will be due to size) then am i fighting a lost cause??
Any advice/ comments welcome!
