Managing Eco-Design:
A Training Solution

A training solution aimed at both product designers and those involved in managing the eco-design process.

CD-ROM, Manual and Diskettes.

Contents:

Introduction

Environmental issues are increasingly being considered in product design and development driven by a range of issues including customer and supply chain pressures, competitiveness, new standards such as IS0 14001 and through cost saving opportunities in relation to materials and energy. However, the systematic management of environmentally considered product design or eco-design is a new issue, and is still in its infancy.

Research has indicated there is a need for a training solution on the management of eco-design as the majority of existing material has focused on tools for product designers rather than training tools to enable the eco-design process to begin, progress and advance. The Centre for Sustainable Design, supported by the Design Council in the UK, has developed a comprehensive training solution that incorporates a CD-ROM, manual and diskettes. The material focuses on the dual needs of those involved in managing the eco-design process and those involved in product design.
