HI all,
I am looking for a course at masters level on the subject of ethical and environmental design. I am a Graphic design graduate with three years experience. I gave a great deal of my final year at Duncan of Jordanstone over to the subject of sustainable design but like most others have found myself having to try to put green issues to the back of my mind. I am finding this increasingly hard and feel I need to move toward what i believe is the way i have ot steer my career, for my own sanity if nothing else.

Any ideas

I agree that trying to steer your career in the direction of sustainable design is very difficult. I am presently searching for an industrial placement to satisfy the 'sandwich' part of my product design degree, and would love to work as part of a company that is fully aware of, and employ eco-design stratagies, this however is proving as difficult as my aim to fully encorporate these startagies into my set project work. However, i will not give up, and will continue to push my degree course, and the modules delivered to us in the direction of sustainability. I love my course and will try and get as much out of it as i can, although there are no requirements to achieve designs with minimal environmental impact.

If you know of any companies that would be willing to take on a secound year product designer, who is fully conscious of what she designs, and what impact it will have on the biosphere, let me know...time is running out!

Hi Ann;
I understand your situation. I have a Master's in Whole Systems Design (Antioch University Seattle, US) and find it quite challenging to find/create the kind of work I aspire to.

Start where you are, as you mentioned, and move from there. That's the best I have to offer in the moment.

Best,
James Puett
