Creating Business Opportunities from Waste Fishing Nets

Eco-innovation for Start-ups and SMEs

Are you interested in transforming waste fishing nets, ropes and components (FNRCs) into new business opportunities?

In a 1-hour webinar, you will learn about practical eco-innovation related to waste FNRCs: the webinar series is led by Martin Charter, Professor of Innovation & Sustainability and Director, The Centre for Sustainable Design at the Business School for the Creative Industries at University for the Creative Arts. Martin will bring his ‘state of the art’ experience from the Circular Ocean project that focused on working with SMEs on waste FNRC collection, recycling and product development. This will be reinforced by lessons learnt from mentoring and working with 600+ eco-innovative start-ups and micro SMEs, and learning from his leading-edge publications: Eco-innovate (2013 & 2016); Greener Marketing (1992 & 1999); Sustainable Solutions (2001); and Designing for the Circular Economy (2018). Martin is an Advisory Board of the Global Ghost Gear Initiative (GGGI)

Practical eco-innovation advice will be given on developing products utilising FNRCs. This will include:

The webinar is targeted at those with new ideas, start-ups and companies with less than 250 employees based in NPA region (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland west coast of Republic of Ireland, northern areas of Scotland, Northern Ireland (except for Belfast), Greenland and Faroe Islands).

Blue Circular Economy is funded by Northern Periphery & Arctic Programme (European Regional Development Fund) that is being organised between 2018-2021.
