Circular Cricket Gear Project
Preliminary Findings

Introduction

Circular Cricket Gear (CCG) project was established to explore potential strategies to maintain the value in cricket gear (products), components, and materials in the economic and social systems, as well as exploring innovation in relation to new materials (TRL2) specifically for cricket gloves, batting pads and balls. The aim is for an initial lab-based prototype to be developed by the end of this project.

Funding and support for the CCG project is provided by UKRI and the CE-Hub.

Professor Martin Charter and Dr Lilian Sanchez Moreno from The Centre for Sustainable Design ® at the University for the Creative Arts, and Dr Darshil Shah from the Centre for Natural Material Innovation at the University of Cambridge will present and discuss the findings of the CCG project with opportunities for dialogue with participants. Active feedback and discussion will be encouraged.

Presentations will cover:

An overview of the findings to date from the CCG project.
Findings from a 1^st innovation workshop that highlight 4 potential product circularity strategies for cricket batting pads.
Update on sustainable materials used in cricket batting pads, gloves, and balls.
Findings from the 1^st streamlined LCA on a pair of cricket batting pads.
The preliminary findings from an online survey conducted with cricket players/users.
