Cricket Gear Reuse
Cricket Gear Reuse (CGR) is a project that aims to catalyse and support the acceleration of cricket gear and clothing reuse projects and behaviours.
Background
The GGR project is focused on exploring and encouraging strategies for the reuse of cricket gear and clothing, and identifying, understanding and measuring the social, economic and environmental benefits of doing so. Cricket gear reuse schemes can include cricket gloves, batting pads, balls, helmets, bats, clothing and other protective equipment, although some schemes may have exclusions for certain types of gear for practical or safety reasons. The aim of the CGR project is to pilot and encourage the development of cricket gear and clothing reuse schemes that cater for different scales and levels of engagement, including club organised schemes, league organised schemes and area organised schemes. Cricket gear reuse will enable the extension of the life of cricket gear and clothing, and reduce waste (environmental), reduce financial barriers to accessing equipment (economic) and enable participation with benefits for mental and physical health (social).
A range of useful Tools, Resources and Good Practice Guides are being created and curated to help clubs, leagues, local authorities and other stakeholders to set up and run cricket gear reuse schemes. These will be available during January to March 2024, and will be added to over time.
CGR is funded by UKRI via Strategic Priorities Fund
