Sustainable Services & Systems (3S) To move towards sustainability will require new ideas and new thinking. This will mean that companies need to move beyond eco-efficient products and processes towards 'triple bottom line' answers. Innovative solutions are required that significantly reduce energy and resource consumption. However, approaches that enable Sustainable Consumption will be a feature of more sustainable solutions. A key opportunity may come from the development of Sustainable Service Systems (3S) that focus on both function and system level innovations. However, the sustainability and business benefits of shifts towards 3S, Product Service Systems (PSS) and eco-efficient sevices are still uncertain and under researched. Sustainable Services & Systems (3s): on-going learning partnership Delft Universtiy of Technology, Design for Sustainability programme, in association with The Centre for Sustainable Design, are initiating a process to explore methodological development and business opportunities arising from 3S and Product Service Systems (PSS). This process will incorporate an online discussion group and face to face (f2f) workshops/conferences. Click here to enter the online discussion group. Please add your thoughts and ideas to help move the discussion forward. Key trends resulting from the dialogue will act as an input into TSPD6. Conclusions from workshops at TSPD6 will be added to the online discussion groups to enable continuous learning. Background information CfSD has prepared a series of links to exisiting reports and cases on 3S. In addition, a series of sites have been identified that a) provide information on future scenarios and b) highlight scenario-building techniques.
