Creative Industries Foresight 2030

Complimentary Webinar
7th July 2020 3.00 PM BST

Organised by The Centre for Sustainable Design (®) at the Business School for the Creative Industries at the University for the Creative Arts

Background

The Creative Industries (CI) are at the forefront of local, regional and national economic growth in the UK. The trend is for the CI (and the ecosystem around them) to become more important to the UK economy over the coming decade. The social and cultural value of the Sector is, perhaps, incalculable, and creativity is at a premium as we deal with the uncertainty and fall-out caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the UK transitions out of the European Union.

The Business School for the Creative Industries (BSCI) at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has completed the first foresight report to explore the CI in 2030 and the links to Sustainability and Industry 4.0. The study authored by Professor Martin Charter, Director, The Centre for Sustainable Design ®, BSCI at UCA and Dr Trevor Davis, Trevor Davis & Associates shows how global mega and UK centric trends will change the CI landscape in the UK in 2030 and the extent to which Sustainability and Industry 4.0 are already having an impact on the UK CI.

In the lead-up to the United Nations (UN) International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development in 2021, the author’s believe that to maintain UK’s status as a global player, there is a need to develop specific policies related to Sustainability and Industry 4.0 in the CI that reflect the unique nature of the Sector and tackle emerging trends and issues.

The webinar will present and discuss the key issues highlighted in the report.
