Sustainability and Sports Clothing
11th July 2022 15.00PM – 16.30PM
Online via Zoom

Organised by The Centre for Sustainable Design (®) at the Business School for the Creative Industries at the University for the Creative Arts

Introduction

A series of common sustainability issues and challenges appear to be faced across different sports sectors. This was one the conclusions that emerged from a workshop organised by The Centre for Sustainable Design ® (CfSD) on sustainability, and cricket equipment and clothing at the BASIS (British Association for Sustainable Sport) conference in May 2022. In addition, it was also felt that different sectors could learn from others’ sustainability experiences – good and bad. As a result, CfSD are organising – in collaboration with BASIS – an expert webinar to discuss common issues and lessons learn with a particular focus on clothing.

With tough sustainability targets being set by sportswear brands for 2050, and multiple sports impacted by climate change, the webinar will act as a safe space to learn from other sporting sectors and the wider clothing sector. As sports brands, policymakers and consumers increasingly prioritise sustainability, the webinar will provide a platform to share the latest sustainability initiatives from the clothing sector which aim to offer insight into how to bring sustainable innovation to the sports clothing sector.

Expert Webinar

Join us for the collaborative webinar to discuss the challenges, solutions, innovations and shared best practices related to sustainability across the sports clothing sector. The webinar aims to include experts from ten sporting sectors.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss emerging issues and lessons learnt and share examples of good practice across different sports. Case studies and examples will be shared from the wider clothing industry which is applicable to sports clothing.
