Event objectives

The workshop will update designers, manufacturers and assemblers of electrical and electronic components, products and systems on:

Background

Due to the increased global concern over environmental issues, electronic designers, manufacturers, assemblers and ‘systems integrators’ are faced with the challenge of meeting new customer expectations and regulations affecting the design, manufacture, use and the ‘end of life’ of their products. With the EuP, WEEE and RoHS Directives already impacting on businesses and now set for amendments, the sector needs to understand how best to respond to increasing legislative, market and competitive pressures for improved environmentally conscious products. In addition, new and emerging international product-related environmental and eco design standards will provide new challenges and opportunities. All this will mean that integrating environmental considerations in product design and development will become an increasing business necessity.

Why you should attend

The workshop will update delegates on amendments to the EuP, WEEE and RoHS Directives and new international eco design standards highlighting likely design requirements and compliance procedures. Delegates will gain greater awareness of the business implications of eco design and fast-track understanding of the practicalities of designing and developing products with a lower environmental impact. The workshop will be delivered by highly experienced presenters who bring a wealth of industrial, design, engineering and management experience alongside their environmental credentials.

Who should attend?

Designers, engineers, technical or design managers, marketing, purchasing and business managers, quality assurance personnel from companies that design, manufacture, assemble or integrate electrical or electronic components, products and systems. The workshop will be suitable for Managing Directors, Marketing Directors/Managers, Product Development Directors/ Managers, Head of Engineering, Head of Design, Head of Innovation, Product Designers, Design Engineers and Consultants that wish to get an overview of legislative developments and eco design opportunities. The event is particularly targeted at delegates from companies with less than 250 employees based in Surrey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, E & W Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Kent and Milton Keynes.
