Information

Low carbon technologies

Low carbon technologies embrace those contributing to energy efficiency in their use or to the reduction of carbon emissions in power generation (including renewables). They include (source: Carbon Trust)

  • Demand side
    -  Buildings (energy efficient components, controls, integrated design)
    -  Industrial (process efficiency)
  • Supply side
    -  Fuels and conventional power generation
    -  Renewables
  • Transport (e.g fuel cells, high efficiency automotive)

  • Enabling technologies (eg electricity storage, hydrogen technology)
